Services

We provide advice, assessment and therapy for children up to 21 years old who have speech, language and communication difficulties. We aim to provide therapy that fits into your family life, with achievable goals and fun therapy programs. We work face to face on the Hibiscus Coast (Silverdale/Orewa to Gulf Harbour) and via Zoom if you live anywhere else in NZ. We come to you - your home, daycare or school and can work with all of those involved with the child (families, daycare teachers, schoolteachers, teacher aids and SENCOs).

Some common reasons your child may need Speech and Language Therapy:

  • Articulation and Phonology disorders - is your child's speech difficult to understand?
  • Late talkers - does your preschool child not have many words or struggle to express themselves?

Other communication disorders we support:

  • Language Delays
  • Stuttering
  • Selective Mutism
  • Social Skills
  • Non verbal communicators who need Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC)
  • Children and young people with complex communication needs such as Down Syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and Global Developmental Delays)

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)

My area of interest is with children and young people (teens and young adults) who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems to communicate. That is,  people who use visual systems (coreboards, PODD) and communication devices (TouchChat, Proloquo, Grid) to communicate. Typically, children who are nonverbal benefit greatly from AAC systems however AAC is helpful for many other children including those with Childhood Apraxia of Speech, and those who are verbal but have a diagnosis that means their spoken speech may always be difficult to understand (Down Syndrome, Craniofacial syndromes , Cerebral Palsy, Global Developmental Delays).
